A Modern, STEM-Integrated Approach
The Barcos Barber Apprenticeship Program is more than just learning to cut hair. It's a comprehensive, hybrid program that blends self-paced online learning with structured, hands-on mentorship in professional shops. Our curriculum is designed to equip you with the technical skills, business acumen, and professional mindset needed to excel in the modern barbering industry.
Our unique, competency-based program covers:
- Core Barbering Skills: Master everything from classic haircutting and shaving techniques to advanced chemical services.
- Business & Client Management: Learn to build client relationships, manage a shop, and market your brand effectively.
- STEM & Sustainability: Explore the science of barbering, including tool maintenance, product chemistry, and innovative upcycling practices.
- Cultural & Artistic Design: Utilize Culturally Situated Design Tools (CSDT) to connect heritage with modern, creative hair design.
Special Funding Opportunity: Going PRO Talent Fund (GPTF)
Barcos Institute is proud to be an awarded training provider for the Going PRO Talent Fund. This state grant program provides direct financial assistance to employers to help train, develop, and retain current and newly hired employees.
- For Employers: Get reimbursed for training costs and build a skilled workforce.
- For Apprentices: This program may allow your employer to invest more in your training and development. USDOL Registered Apprentices may qualify for up to $3,500 in training funds through their employer.
