Client Consultation & Service

  • Drape and prepare clients for service
  • Discuss desired services and haircut styles with patrons
  • Maintain client record cards noting work done, products used, and fees charged
  • Recommend treatments for hair or scalp concerns

Cutting, Shaving & Styling

  • Cut and trim hair using clippers, scissors, and combs
  • Apply lather and shave beards, necks, and temple contours
  • Shape and trim beards and moustaches
  • Shampoo hair; curl, color, or straighten using chemical solutions

Skin, Scalp & Facial Services

  • Provide basic skin care and nail treatments
  • Provide face, neck, and scalp massages

Sanitation & Shop Operations

  • Clean and sterilize scissors, combs, clippers, and other instruments
  • Clean workstations and sweep floors between clients
  • Order and maintain supplies

Business, Records & Retail

  • Record services on cashier tickets and receive payment from customers
  • Perform clerical and administrative duties (records, bills, staff supervision)
  • Recommend and sell lotions, tonics, or other cosmetic supplies
  • Stay current on the latest styles and hair care techniques

Skin Analysis & Consultation

  • Examine client skin using magnifying lamps or visors to assess condition
  • Determine products or treatments suited to client skin quality and appearance
  • Maintain records of client needs, preferences, and services provided
  • Refer clients to medical personnel for serious skin conditions
  • Collaborate with dermatologists or plastic surgeons on pre/post-op skin care

Treatments & Techniques

  • Cleanse client skin with water, creams, or lotions
  • Treat facial skin using peels, masks, and specialized techniques
  • Apply chemical peels to reduce fine lines and age spots
  • Perform simple extractions and provide facial or body massages
  • Remove body and facial hair by waxing; tint lashes and brows

Product & Retail Knowledge

  • Select and apply cosmetic products such as creams, lotions, and tonics
